Cheap-o Clock Redo

I am sorry it's been ages since my last post! But I PROMISE, I've got lots of things stirring for the next couple of weeks.

I'm sure you all have one of these clocks somewhere. This particular one was $3.00 at Walmart that I bought back when we lived in an apartment and I refused to spend money on anything til we moved into the new house. The plan was to replace it, but I just never found the right one... so of course I just gave it a makeover :)

First, I took apart the original. This is probably not the safest way to do it, but it worked!

The back just pops out and then you can take the hands off of the front. I spray painted mine with some ORB spray paint, but if you do make sure to let it dry for a couple of days or the hands will stick together.

I spray primed the clock before spray painting it. Don't skip this step otherwise the spray paint just runs right off the cheap-o plastic. It took a couple of coats and I added a sealer at the end.

I took off the original face of the clock and attached strips of a post it note that I cut up.
(I know, I'm getting real ghetto here!)
Photobucket
I traced a circle onto my scrapbook paper and cut it out. Then I laid it over my original so I could see where the numbers are supposed to go.
Photobucket
Next, I glued numbers that I cut out from my Cricut (storybook cartridge).

Once I put it all back together I carefully inserted the plastic piece. Some of the edges scraped a bit so I'll have to go back and touch that up later! {impatient me hates that}
Photobucket
This was REALLY hard to take pictures of so I am so sorry about my dark, artificial light filled pictures!

Here our clock is in it's new home!

Decorating my bathroom has been a slow process, so don't judge my sparse wall. However, I am almost done with it and will be doing a reveal soon!!

I promise to have some good stuff up here again soon..Wanna Hint? We went from 70 degree weather last week and today woke up to our first snowfall... of 8 inches of snow! Yup, you guessed it.. the house is being Christmas-fied! :)

And on an unrelated note, I turned my head for one single second and my little sneaker struck again.

  1. Cute clock! Love how it turned out!

And your puppy is SO cute! My dog (a small, yet "big boned" toy poodle) likes to steal food too. Once he swiped an ENTIRE chicken breast. And ate it all. Poor thing couldn't do anything but lay around moaning all day. And that's just ONE of MANY thieving stories by my dog.

  2. Super cute clock! I did a similar redo but I used cloth instead of paper. I did get the head bands! Thanks so much for them, I love them! Hopefully it does get warm because Yuck!

  3. Cute!! I've totally rocked the cheap clock redo before...those clocks need a little love! :)

Just like the girl above me, I used cloth to get the job done, but your paper looks like it was probably easier.

It took a little time and patience, but in the end was worth every minute spent on it...no pun intended. :)

  8. I have 2 clocks that need a makeover! One is an outside clock and the face curled up! Both are HUGE, though, so unless I use craft paper I'm going to have to try something else.
